Webkinz: Reaching Out to Adults and Children
People today are going the extra mile, as far as getting their own Webkinz toys, simply because the toys are just so adorable. Add the fact that these come in a wide variety of species as well! Going beyond the usual cats and dogs, these toys come in the following forms, too – frogs, monkeys, turtles, and even raccoons. Yes, you read it right, raccoons. I even have a raccoon of my own!
But what makes these toys different from the other toys stocking market shelves today? The best thing about them is that they allow pet owners to be interactive with their pets. By interactive, I mean that you actually get to interact with your very own pet online. You see, the stuffed toys come with a special code that you use to register yourself on the official Webkinz website. From there, you can then get a virtual pet that resembles your very own! You even get to choose its gender as well as its name! More importantly, you get to clothe it, feed it, and do everything to take care of it. It is as if you have a real pet of your own altogether!
This is what I love the most about my raccoon and the pets I got for my children as well. By taking care of these virtual pets, children are taught the value and importance of responsibility, of being responsible for the welfare of another creature that is totally dependent on you. And if this does not teach a child responsibility, then I do not know what else does. Apart from that, you also get to buy clothes and accessories for your pet from the online store conveniently found on the website as well. You are given what is known as Kinzcash – virtual money in every essence – and it is totally up to you how you budget your money for your pet’s needs. This teaches the skill of budgeting as well.
What is more, the website also offers a handful of educational games that can enhance the problem-solving skills of any child. There is also a chat room where children and fellow Webkinz toy owners can interact with each other and share their experiences about their beloved pets. No worries here because the chat room is a completely safe online environment for both children and adults alike.
Personally, I am thankful my children got me into this craze. I so love my raccoon, as I am sure other adults love their very own pets as well.
